My dad put his Christmas gift from me–a baking stone–to use for the first time yesterday with a homemade pizza. He made his famous pizza dough, some fresh sauce, and caramelized some shallots. I sweated some mushrooms, and then we used the fresh mozzarella he’d bought for the cheese. With a bit of fresh-grated parmigiano reggiano cheese atop, it was ready for the oven, and it came out like this!

my first attempt at making pizza with my new baking stone. i think i need a lot of work on my pizza-peel-technique. 
this was eva’s pizza, with mushrooms, salami, onions, pineapple, chilli, olives, cheese, and a runny egg. yes, she’s very greedy.
(the colour’s a bit strange cos for some reason the WB was really off and i couldn’t seem to correct it without making the rest of the shot a bit weird. whoops.)

Sicilian Pizza Dough (breadmaker version)
1 pk Dry yeast
3 C All purpose flour
1 tb Sugar
1 t salt
2 tb buttermilk powder
1 tb olive oil
1¼ C Warm water
Place all ingredients into breadmaker in the order listed. Allow breadmaker
to knead and let rise slightly before removing. I use the dough mode which takes 90 minutes. If you have a shorter cycle you may have to take the dough out and let it rise in a warm spot for an extra 30 minutes.
